Achievers training workshop in Sierra Leone

n the 28 October 2011, 17 schools from all around the Moyamba district of Sierra Leone visited Moyamba School of Technology and Computer Studies for a one-day training workshop on Achievers International. Other attendees of this groundbreaking event included local council and education board members.

Moyamba School of Technology is taking part in the Achievers International project this year and is currently partnered with King George V College in England. Moyamba have introduced the Achievers project to a much wider area in Sierra Leone and, with the support of the Achievers International team in the UK, held a training workshop for the 17 schools that will also be part of the Achievers International network.

The workshop included a general introduction of the Achievers programme with descriptions of what the project is about and what is involved. There was then further in-depth training for some of the students on how to compose, send and retrieve e-mails, among other things.

Achiever International and Moyamba School of Technology are working together to reach a wider number of students, and encourage them to learn about business and ICT through participating in the Achievers project. The Achievers team hopes to aid Moyamba School in their mission to enhance ICT education across Moyamba and hopefully the whole of Sierra Leone
